Filing A Claim? We can help.

The claims process is confusing by design. We know every step of the process and can help you handle it from start to finish.

Book Your Free Inspection

Filing a roof insurance claim after storm damage is one of the most stressful things a homeowner can deal with. The paperwork is confusing. The adjuster uses software most people have never heard of. The settlement offer arrives and you have no idea if it's fair or if you're leaving money on the table.

Most homeowners go through this alone. Our customers don't have to.

We've walked thousands of Houston homeowners through this exact process and we know how to make sure nothing gets missed, nothing gets undervalued, and you end up with the roof you're actually proud of.

How the Insurance Claims Process Works With Serenity

01

Free Roof Inspection

We thoroughly inspect your roof and document all storm-related damage with photos and detailed notes. This documentation becomes the foundation of your claim.

02

Filing Your Claim

We help you contact your insurance company and file the claim correctly. You have the legal right to have a contractor present during the entire process — that's exactly what we do.

03

Meeting the Adjuster

The most critical step, and the one most homeowners get wrong by going through it alone. We meet the adjuster at your property to point out every area of damage so the inspection is thorough.

04

Reviewing the Estimate

Insurance companies use Xactimate to calculate estimates. We use the same software, so we know exactly what should be included and can identify anything left out or undervalued.

05

Handling Discrepancies

If the adjuster's estimate doesn't match the actual scope of damage, we document the discrepancies and work with the carrier to get them corrected. You shouldn't have to argue for what's fair.

06

Invoicing the Carrier

Once the work is approved, we invoice the insurance company directly. In most cases, your only out-of-pocket expense is your deductible.

/ Coverage

What Your Homeowner's Insurance Typically Covers

When storm damage is confirmed, most policies cover:

  • All roof components
  • Gutters and downspouts
  • Window screens
  • Other exterior components damaged in the same storm
  • Building code upgrades (if your policy includes that coverage)

We make sure every eligible component is documented and included.

/ Your Payment

ACV vs. Recoverable Depreciation

When your claim is approved, you'll typically receive two checks, not one.

First Check — ACV

Actual Cash Value — what the roof was worth before the storm, minus depreciation.

Second Check — Recoverable Depreciation

Released after the work is completed, deductible paid and the carrier is invoiced.

Homeowners who don't understand this process sometimes leave the second check on the table entirely.

/ FAQ

Common Insurance Claim Questions

Do I need to get multiple estimates to file a claim?

No. The insurance industry uses Xactimate, a standardized pricing software, to determine fair market value. All legitimate contractors work from the same pricing framework. Getting multiple estimates doesn't lower your deductible or benefit you in any way.

What if my adjuster says there's no damage?

You're entitled to a re-inspection by a different adjuster within the same firm. Don't accept a denial without requesting a second look — especially if neighboring homes are receiving claims. We can be present for any follow-up inspection.

Will filing a claim raise my insurance rates?

This is a conversation to have with your insurance agent. In many cases, a single storm damage claim doesn't impact your rates. What we can tell you is that if the damage is there and it's covered, it's almost always worth filing.

What's my deductible and how does it work?

Your deductible is your out-of-pocket portion of the claim. The insurance company pays everything above that amount. In most cases, your deductible is the only cost you'll have when working with Serenity on an insurance claim.

Can the insurance company send the payment directly to me?

Yes. Once the claim is settled, the payment process varies by policy and mortgage status. If you have a mortgage, your lender may be included on the check and have their own release process. We'll walk you through exactly how it works.

Don't Navigate the Claims Process Alone.

We've handled thousands of insurance claims as the Contractor completing the work and can walk you through the entire process.
